Second St Albans. All the ingredients lined up, raring to have at it..............scenario here
Mass picture dump incoming!
Initial table layout and force deployments
Lancaster splits their force for a two sided attack
Yorkist forces dig in
Initial moves forward by Lancaster - good going in the centre, not so good on the flank.
Stern defences.........
Getting through this lot might be a bit of a tussle.
Cavalry starts picking people off in the open
Lancaster cavalry doesn't like the mildest of fire coming at them, decides to about turn and do the chivalric thing..........
Men at arms storming up and having it!
Get in there chaps, you'll be fine!
Ah.
Defensive lines start taking shape as the attack goes into the centre of the town
Lancaster crossbows begin moving through the gardens for prime positioning
More and more fighting builds up in the roads to the town
Lancaster slowly grinding their way in.
Light cavalry decides to finally weigh in. No idea where the heavy had gotten to at this point
Lancaster flank attack FINALLY starts moving forward, after idling for half the battle.
Big ruckus between all sides on the edges of the town as the flankers make contact.
With that, the Yorkist forces begin to withdraw as the town is lost, they've been overrun on the flank and its not looking too good. And still no sign of the damned heavy cavalry for Lancaster!
Great photos. I like that you have taken them from different angles, with some close up and some pulled back.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I try to take as many as I can throughout the game, then prune. Can usually tell when things are getting involved on the table as theres a gap in the war correspondents record.
DeleteLol I have the same experience: a flurry of photos to start, a couple midgame, and a handful at the end.
DeleteA cracking looking game….
ReplyDeleteCunning plans are afoot to get into The Wars of the Roses near Christmas…
All the best. Aly
Splendid looking troops and terrain!
