Battle of Parliament Stand
Finally got to play a game - the first this year!
Scenario can be found behind this link
Decided to go for something different from the usual historicals, so we added some Horror to the English Civil War and got the undead marching up the field.
Table Overview
Royalist Deployments, living units to the right flank, undead in the centre, cavalry on the left
Parliament Deployments, Forlorn Hope to the advanced centre, rest of the line to the left flank. Denied the right flank.
The Royalist right flank begins the advance, whilst on the other side of the field, the Cavaliers come under massed fire from the Forlorn Hope, which frankly kicked the utter crap out of them
Feeling confident, the commanded shotte leaves the fortifications to keep putting fire into the cavaliers, breaking them.
Dragoons mount up and sweep around the flank of the cavalry.
Cavalry? What cavalry?
The undead had done absolutely nothing at this point, other than mill about aimlessly towards the back of the line. Only movement? A blunder on one regiment that retreated behind the main line
Preacher fires up the troops for the incoming scrap, as the Royalists generally advance.
Forlorn Hope holding out and taking names!
Undead.............still milling about.
They should have been here...........
Ironside reserve watches from the rear
Storming party gets dropped by shotte, ended up getting wrecked.
Dragoons, somewhat foolishly, get behind THE FINALLY ADVANCING undead to snap shots off.
Then get an absolute kicking from the Cavaliers in return. Bad idea, lads.
Undead centre reaches the barricades, breaking one of the musket units.
On the road, Royalist left flank, an almighty ruck kicks off. This would be back and forward all game, with more and more units getting involved.
New Model Army cannon can't see a thing through the fog of war.
Undead begin to crawl over the barricades, forcing units back.
Swirling mists as the action heats up
Ironside reserve spots an opportunity to charge, but don't break the unit. Then find themselves charged in turn by the remaining Cavaliers, who then find a unit of pike hefting into them, forcing a break.
By this point, most of the NMA line was engaging and holding steady but ONLY JUST.
As night drew in, both sides were still unbroken, but the general withdrawal was sounded, leaving the field without a overall victor
Result: Draw.
The line held, but Parliament would have broken had the hours not passed so quickly.
Hugely fun, hugely violent! Till the next one...........
