Context: Yorkists have gathered and marched South, claiming allegiance to the King and only that they have issue with Somerset. The Lancastrians, being unsure of this have marched out to meet York. Both armies have reached St Albans at about the same time, around 9am. The King raised his banner in the town square, showing that he was ready to give battle. Meanwhile, Yorks army has drawn up in a line to the East of the town in Key Field, behind the gardens of the houses of Hollywell Street, the market square and St Peters Street.

York, Warwick and Salisbury have gathered their army at the ridge of the hill nr St Albans to the East of the town

The King has remained in the town, with Somerset, Clifford and Northumberland.
